Tallgrass at the Whitewater Federation of Women's Clubs' Garden Stroll

The Whitewater Federation of Women's Clubs hosted a Garden Stroll on Sunday, July 11. Tallgrass Restoration's Chris Kaplan and Carrie Van Lanen-Raygo introduced a group of Garden Stroll participants to an award-winning restoration project at Prairie Village, located north of Whitewater on County Highway U. Chris discussed the benefits of ecosystem restoration and pointed out the abundance of wildflowers on the restored property.

Prairie Village was selected by the U.S. EPA and Chicago Wilderness for a 2009 Conservation and Landscaping Award. The award recognizes the excellent work performed in restoring prairie, wetlands, ponds and oak forest.
