2009 U.S. EPA & Chicago Wilderness - Conservation and Native Landscaping Certificate of Merit

When you get a chance and you are in Schaumburg, drive past the Tallgrass office. Our front yard is a demonstration native prairie. During the summer months it is alive with migratory birds, butterflies, and prairie voles. The prairie has become very well established, supporting a wide variety of native plants and requiring very little maintenance. It features prairie forbs and grasses in a garden that is in a very urban setting, and in a format that promotes the use of native landscaping.

We were recently awarded a 2009 U.S. EPA & Chicago Wilderness - Conservation and Native Landscaping Certificate of Merit. The award’s intent is to raise awareness about native landscaping and conservation development, helping to encourage others to adopt these sustainable practices.
